Improve Your Eye Drawing With This Simple Step

Too often we make the mistake of drawing what we see on the outside without fully understanding what is underneath and the reason why features look the way they do. Drawing an eye from the front for most people isn’t too much of a challenge but when drawing it from an angle or drawing it without reference can seem quite daunting.

Understanding the dynamics of the eye is the simple solution. Think of the lids as something being pulled open around a circular object.

Viewing the eye from the three quarters view you can see how the lids wrap around the eye ball and how the outer corner of the eye takes on a more round shape than viewed from the front.

Practicing drawing eyes with this in mind will help you get a more life like touch to your drawing.
